The TrueView Story
About Us
At TrueView Cards, we’re on a mission to make buying and selling raw (ungraded) Pokémon cards as transparent and hassle-free as possible. We were tired of hearing stories of people getting burned buying and selling raw Pokémon cards and knew there was a better way.
Our Story
Pokémon cards have come a long way since 1996, but one challenge remains. Traditional grading services, while valuable, often take months and come with shipping risks and rising costs. We saw a need for a better way.
We empower sellers to upload high-quality photos and a video of their Pokémon cards. From there, we analyze the media to determine the authenticity and condition of each card. This means buyers get a crystal-clear view of what they’re purchasing, with fewer surprises and fewer disputes. Sellers benefit too, since this transparency significantly reduces misunderstandings, buyer protection claims, and return hassles.
Why TrueView?
We’re not here to replace grading services, but to offer an alternative that’s faster and more accessible for everyday transactions. We're here to be the best way to buy and sell raw Pokémon cards without all the hassle. Buyers know exactly what they’re getting, and sellers can list with confidence that their cards are represented accurately.
A Note from the Founder
Hi, I’m Sam, and I started TrueView Cards to solve real frustrations I’ve experienced as a collector.
As a kid, I loved watching Pokémon, playing the games, and collecting the cards. As I got older, I drifted away from the hobby due to social pressure and the feeling that it was something I was supposed to grow out of.
Years later, I found my way back.
Rediscovering my childhood collection was genuinely exciting. I even thought I might be sitting on something valuable. After I sent cards in for grading, I learned that most of them weren’t (except for my 2005 Unseen Forces Raikou Gold Star in a PSA 2!). The process was fun, but it also highlighted a lot of friction in the modern hobby.
As I dug deeper and spoke with other collectors, a pattern emerged. Grading is great in many cases, but plenty of collectors still want to buy and sell raw cards. They want to do it without long delays, high fees, shipping cards away, or uncertainty around condition and authenticity.
I’ve spent my career in product management focused on building better systems that create clarity and trust. TrueView Cards is my attempt to bring that mindset to a hobby I’ve fallen back in love with.
We’re excited to build a more transparent, fair, collector-first marketplace, and we’re glad you’re here.
